Guardian Homes
What is it?
Here at Dessie's Doodles we are dedicated to ensuring that all of our dogs in our program get love and attention, and live in a home. We do not use kennels! In order to make this possible we keep the number of dogs in our program small and utilize guardian homes. A guardian home offers a family for a puppy chosen to improve our breeding program.
- 1st litter after all genetic testing is completed at minimum of 2 years of age
- Approximately 3-4 litters
- Spayed/nuetered by 6 years old maximim
Who can participate?
- Live within 2 hour of Connersville,IN
- Own your own home
- Willing to have the dog trained
- Able to allow us access to the dog as needed for breeding, photos, etc.
Benefits
- Pick of the litter at no upfront cost to you
- We cover all breeding costs.
- We cover all genetic testing.
- We cover the cost of spay/nueter at the end of the contract
- After being spayed we sign over all rights to you
Expectations
- Must complete a minimum of basic obedience class
- Test for canine good citizenship & therapy dog at 1 year of age
- Must socialize the puppy/dog
- Properly maintain and groom the dog
- Maintain communcation including sending photos and updates
- Keep vaccinations up to date
- Keep heartworm/flea and tick medicine up to date
- Have the puppy/dog covered by pet insurance
- Feed the diet we recommend
- Be able to allow us to have the dog when needed
- Allow 2 random visits and 1 schedule visit a year

Hank
Hank has been with us here at Dessie's Doodles since September, training, playing, and having a great time doing it while we prepared him for a guardian family. He is crate trained and house broke (with supervision as he is still a puppy).

Hank has been with us here at Dessie's Doodles since September, training, playing, and having a great time doing it while we prepared him for a guardian family. He is crate trained and house broke (with supervision as he is still a puppy).
Hank walks beautifully on a leash. He knows, sit, down, and stay. He will be attending an AKC canine good citizenship course in March, where he will earn his CGC title confirming what we already know, that he is just a good boy.
Hank is up to date on vaccines, had a fecal test last week at the vet, which was clear, and is currently on flea and tick prevention as well as heartworm prevention.
We are looking for a guardian home within 30 minutes of Connersville, IN.
Hank is a very special boy, and we want to keep him close to home. The guardian family must use our groomer Grooming Girls Pet Salon in Brookville, IN, and agree to maintain his luscious coat.
Our preferred guardian home would own their own home and have a fenced-in yard for Hank to run and play. He is an active puppy, so he would love an active family that will take him everywhere that they go.
He is great around other dogs around his size as he loves to play and tussle. He's been wonderful with our children. He tries to play and torment our cats who very generously tolerate him.
